These films were created by RIC students who participated in the fall 2020 Student Film Contest, Life as a RIC Student in These Times 2020, and chose to submit their films to the RIC COVID-19 Archive.
2020 has been a year full of momentous changes – from the dangers, disruptions, and losses of the COVID pandemic, to the economic impacts of the nationwide shutdown, to the national protests against racial injustice. In the wake of these changes, nearly every aspect of all of our lives has been altered, in ways both large and small. The Student Film Contest asked RIC students to document what life in 2020 has been like for them, how the changes of this past year have impacted them, the kinds of challenges they have faced, and what has kept them going. The program was co-sponsored by the RIC Film Studies Department, Adams Library, the Student Union, and the Ocean State Film Society.
