The first issue of the Alumni News was published in November 1952, shortly after the arrival of President William C. Gaige to what was then the Rhode Island College of Education By the end of the 1950’s the publication had evolved from a typed and stapled newspaper to a magazine format, and Rhode Island College had become a liberal arts institution. In Autumn 1967 its name changed to The Review, and in 1974 it became The Alumni Review.
This publication provides insight into Rhode Island College's history, especially regarding the move from downtown Providence to the Mount Pleasant Campus in 1958 and its rapid development throughout the second half of the century.
