Description

Below is a photo of the Progress Energy Park baseball stadium and the Bayfront Tower Condominium complex. The stadium was rebuilt in 1976, so at the time this photo was taken (March 1978), the reconstruction was only about two years old. The park has been the spring training home of many different Major League Baseball teams with the most recent team being the Tampa Bay Rays. St. Petersburg is known for being the birthplace of spring training in the state of Florida. The Rays have since left the park and it is now a host to a series of exhibition contests between international baseball clubs. The location of the park on Tampa Bay makes it one of the most beautiful places to watch a game from.
