Description
The University of Wisconsin was founded the same year as the incorporation of Wisconsin as a state in 1848. It is located on Lake Mendota and the body of water seen in this photograph is known as University Bay. The carillon tower, seen in this photograph, was dedicated in 1936, is one of three in the state. It originally was equipped with 25 bells but has since grown to 56.
