Description
1944. Inscribed on reverse by artist: "2. youth Head in Wood", "Elizabeth Prophet". This piece was acquired by the Brooklyn Museum in 2014 through the Brooklyn Museum Fund for African American Art in honor of Saundra Williams-Cornwell. (Brooklyn) The oiled wood sculpture is estimated to have been produced circa 1930. This photograph, and the accompanying profile view (EP.01.07.03), show the piece as photographed in 1944 by photojournalist Griffith Davis (1923-1993) most likely in Atlanta, Georgia.
