Description
The Maplewood in Jamestown, Rhode Island was established by William Lincoln Bates in 1900 as a summer 'sanitarium,' but also as a resort and nursing home for rest and recuperation (https://www.jamestownpress.com/articles/historical-society-learns-jamestown-connection-to-three-stooges/). The structure was destroyed by fire on March 16, 1931, leaving at least five dead. (Providence Journal, 18 Mar. 1931, p. 3.) This photograph is undated.
