Description
An unidentified man stands amidst some machinery, possibly a power source, that is part of a desalination plant. This plant utilizes reverse osmosis to convert ocean water into viable, drinking water for the community. Osmosis requires a semi permeable membrane separating two containers: one filled with pure water and the other with saline (salt) water. In osmosis, the pure water is drawn to the saline water container. The process of reverse osmosis applies hydrostatic pressure to the saline solution filled container, therefore inducing the pure water to pass back through the membrane and leave the salts behind.
