Homes, built mostly of stone and concrete, are situated along a street in the village of João Galego. The village is located in the east-northastern part of Boa Vista, about 30 km southeast of Sal Rei. João Galego is very near Fundo de Figueiras, the birthplace of Aristides Pereira, the first president of the Republic of Cape Verde.
