Description
A group of workers repair a coblestone road in Ribeira Brava. The city, which at the time of this photograph was still classified as a town, is known for cobblestone roads and beautiful, colorful architecture. Until the closing of a local seminary school in the early 20th century, Ribeira Brava was the intellectual center of Cape Verde.
The pictured landscape, located in the hinterland of the São Nicolau, is unusually fertile and produces more agriculturally than almost any other island in the archipelago.
