Description

Bay of Mindelo pictured from the north shore looking across the city and to the mountainous horizon. Deforestation and overgrazing in the 19th century, in addition to winds and drought, have left the natural resources of the island scarce. Mindelo, with it's natural harbor, is home to Porto Grande, which is a major contributor to the national economy.
