This lecture was presented as a part of the Dialogue on Diversity Committee of Rhode Island College Promising Practices series. Sonia Nieto emphasizes the importance of anti-racist and anti-bias methods of education; Nieto delineates the seven characteristics of multicultural education, including the process of a comprehensive school reform which would challenge racism and discrimination. Nieto encourages the affirmation of pluralism, and comments upon the difficult but ultimately rewarding process of shaping a multicultural education.
